Closing open Shifts

The Administrator menu in Enabler can be used to close shifts using the “List Open Shifts” option from the Administration menu.

In unusual circumstances, you may have an open shift on a till that is no longer in use. As an example, a user had an open shift on a till, and that till failed and it was decided not to replace the till.

As the till is no longer operational, the open shift will not appear in the “List Open Shifts” screen but when the user attempts to login to another till, they will receive the message “Unable to Begin New Shift” and a message saying that “You already have a shift active on rrbbtt.” (where rrbbtt is the logical address of the till). “You must end that shift before you can begin a new shift on this till.”

In the lantran path on the store server, there will be a file called <usercode>.shf where usercode is the code of the user who has an open shift. Inside this file will be the till number of the till with the open shift, e.g. 024810. If you delete this file, the user will then be able to commence a new shift on a new till.
