Setting up Second Monitor as Customer Display

(For Enabler ver 4-28-00 onwards)


PC Setup

  1. Install Windows .NET Framework on PC (available off Microsoft website – Microsoft do not charge for this software as it is part of the Windows Update optional downloads)
  2. Start Windows with the second monitor connected and switched on.
  3. Go to Display Settings in Windows (Right-click anywhere on Windows Desktop and click on Properties). Go to the Settings tab:Setting up Second Monitor as Customer Display figure 1.jpg
  4. Click and hold on the Secondary Display and drag it over to the left of the Primary Display, Click on “Yes” when prompted:Setting up Second Monitor as Customer Display figure 2.jpg
  5. With the Secondary Display highlighted, use the slider to adjust the screen resolution to the required level (640 x 480, 800 x 600, or 1224 x 768).
  6. Apply the OK the settings to close the Display Properties box.
  7. Verify your configuration by moving the mouse pointer over to, then past, the far left of the screen. The mouse pointer should “disappear” off your main screen and “reappear” on the Customer Display screen.
  8. Proceed to setting up the new display in Enabler Back Office.

Enabler Setups

Create Extra Folders.

You will need to create three new folders (suggest they are created under the main \enabler folder) to contain the images that will be displayed on the Customer Display. They will hold:

  • Large Images – Adverts and graphics to be displayed on a rotating random basis on the Customer Display when the till is not in use (similar to a Windows screen-saver, but only displayed on the Customer Display). EG:

  • Small Images – Small adverts and graphics that will be displayed at the bottom of the Sales Entry screen while the customer’s goods are being scanned through the till. EG:

  • Product Images – The pictures and images that will display on the Sales Entry screen, identifying the item/s being sold. EG:

In addition to these folders, the default graphic/logo that is to be displayed on the Tendering screen should be placed into the \enabler folder as well. EG:

Configure Enabler

  1. In Enabler Back Office, go to Local Store Setup/Equipment/Customer Display/ (config).
  2. Put a check in the “Is a Customer Display attached” box, then select “Second Monitor” from the dropdown box.
  3. Configure the fields as shown below:
Path to the folder containing the small adverts.
Set the resolution to match the resolution that was set up in Windows Display Properties.
Path to the folder containing the large adverts.
Path and filename of the graphic to be displayed in the tendering screen (eg: c:\enabler\tender_logo.bmp)
Number of seconds between graphic changes.

  1. In Enabler Back Office, go to Local Store Setup/Products/Product Options/(config)/Product Master Options (2ndtab).
  2. Select the “Allow viewing product images and extra text” box and enter the path of the “Images” folder:

  1. All products to have an image displayed on the POS screen, need to be configured individually. In Back Office, select the “Products” button, select the product to be configured, then select “Change”. Select the “Images/Notes” tab and enter the image name (see example below). The “Show Image” button can be used to check that the correct filename has been entered. Repeat this process for all products that have a corresponding image.

Special Notes.

  • Images larger than the display settings, will be reduced. Images smaller than the display settings, will be enlarged up to 120% of their original size (120% cutoff to reduce distortion). These images will be displayed centred on the advertising area
  • Images can be of type JPEG, JPG, BMP, or GIF
