Windows Server 2008/R2 required components
When installing Windows Server 2008/R2 for installation of EEE, the following components must be installed:-
Windows Server Roles
Web Server (IIS)
- Required on the Apps Server and if using SQL 2005, also setup on the DB Server. SQL Server 2008 and above does not require IIS to operate.
- IIS should also include the following Role Services which are not default.
- Application Development: ASP.NET (this also prompts you to install ISAPI Extensions, ISAPI Filters and .NET Extensibility, as well as .NET Environment from Windows Process Activation Service)
- Security: Basic Authentication
- Security: Windows Authentication
- IIS 6 Management Compatibility(ALL)
File Services
- Required on the DB Server
- File Server
Windows Features
.NET Framework 3.5.1 Features
- Required on the Apps Server
- .NET Framework 3.0
- XPS Viewer
The above roles and features must be installed prior to SQL Server being installed. Windows Updates should also be run to install all Windows updates which include security updates, .NET Framework 3.5 + SP1, etc.
Enabler
Enabler is fully compatible with Windows Server 2008. If using FTPAgent to transfer files between EEE & Enabler, then please note that FTPAgent is NOT compatible with the 64 bit version of Windows Server 2008 (or 64 bit version of any Windows operating system).
