Some Microsoft updates to SQL Server 2005 and Reporting Services reset the Anonymous Access option on the ReportServer webpage in IIS. This results in EEE users being prompted to enter a Windows username and password when running EEE Reports.
An example update is KB960089.
To resolve this issue, the anonymous access has to be re-applied, and the EEEServices username and password specified.
- On the SQL Database Server, open the IIS console (Start → Control Panel → Administrative Tools → Internet Information Services (IIS) Console)
- Expand Websites
- Expand Default Web Site (assuming the default website was used during install)
- Right Click 'ReportServer'
- Select Properties
- Select the Directory Security tab
- Click the Edit button under the 'Authentication and access control' section
- Tick the option 'Enable anonymous access'
- Click the Browse button
- Search for the EEEServices account (all one word) and select
- Enter the EEEServices account password (Contact Magenta Retail if this is unknown)
- Click OK, and re-enter the EEEServices account password. Click OK to confirm and exit back to the IIS console
- Save the configuration to disk
- Right Click the Servername in the IIS console
- Select All Tasks
- Select 'Save configuration to disk'
- Click OK to continue
- Restart the IIS Services
- Right Click the Servername in the IIS console
- Select All Tasks
- Select Restart IIS...
- Ensure 'Restart Internet Services on <SERVERNAME>' is selected
- Click OK
- Click End if you wish to restart the services immediately
Test that reports run as expected in EEE. You should no longer be prompted for a Windows Username and password.
