Changes in the way sessions are handled in Internet Explorer 8 and above mean that the default options that are used when IE is started will not allow multiple copies or 'sessions' of EEE to be open at the same time on the same PC.
These changes are explained at the following Microsoft Blog: MSDN IE Blog
As the Blog explains, the option to open a new session via the File → New Session exists, however from the EEE main menu, the file menu is inaccessible.
The Blog also explains that the -nomerge parameter can be used via a command line/shortcut when starting Internet Explorer. When the shortcut is opened, the new Internet Explorer window will open a new session and allow a second/third/forth/etc session
Workaround
An example is below:
- Right Click your desktop
- Point to 'new'
- Click 'shortcut'
- In the 'location' box, type the following (perhaps copy and paste):
"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -nomerge "http://eeewebserver/eee"
- Click Next
- Enter a description EG: 'EEE'
- Click Finish
