Some Microsoft updates to SQL Server 2005 and Reporting Services reset the Anonymous Access option on the ReportServer webpage in IIS. This results in EEE users being prompted to enter a Windows username and password when running EEE Reports.

An example update is KB960089.

To resolve this issue, the anonymous access has to be re-applied, and the EEEServices username and password specified.

  1. On the SQL Database Server, open the IIS console (Start → Control Panel → Administrative Tools → Internet Information Services (IIS) Console)
  2. Expand Websites
  3. Expand Default Web Site (assuming the default website was used during install)
  4. Right Click 'ReportServer'
  5. Select Properties
  6. Select the Directory Security tab
  7. Click the Edit button under the 'Authentication and access control' section
  8. Tick the option 'Enable anonymous access'
  9. Click the Browse button
  10. Search for the EEEServices account (all one word) and select
  11. Enter the EEEServices account password (Contact Magenta Retail if this is unknown)
  12. Click OK, and re-enter the EEEServices account password
  13. Restart the IIS Services

Right Click the Servername in the IIS console

Select All Tasks

Select Restart IIS...

Ensure 'Restart Internet Services on <SERVERNAME>' is selected

Click OK

Click End if you wish to restart the services immediately

Test that reports run as expected in EEE. You should no longer be prompted for a Windows Username and password.
